Blog: Social networking sites

Four social networking sites I visited are Facebook, Twitter, LinkedIn and Reddit. All four of these websites are useful for communicating with people from almost anywhere. They all have features where you can post interesting stories for people to read and comment their thoughts on. Although I never had a Twitter account before this course, I see the benefits of using Twitter now. It is very easy to use and access information you need in a short period of time. For example, I've used Twitter before to check for parking regulations in NYC and also to check on updates if school would be canceled during a snow storm by just looking at a few tweets. On the other hand, Facebook is something I use very often to communicate with my friends and family. You can download Facebook's messenger app in the app store in less than a minute to communicate with anyone easily as long as you have Wifi. In addition to this, there are also group pages where you can network and communicate with people. For example, Baruch class of 2021, is a Facebook group page I am currently in where I can retrieve valuable information about my school with peers in my graduating year. Facebook is also widely used for marketing and advertisement. Many businesses utilizes Facebook's advertisement technology to gain reach and to connect with consumers effectively.  Next, LinkedIn is a social networking platform where you can construct your own profile to make it seem like your online resume. There are tons of job posts for people to find jobs or internships. The search engine also comes with a filtering option which helps you find the specific attributes you are looking for in your job. It also has features that Facebook and Twitter have such as posting on your feed or commenting on other peoples stories. I use LinkedIn often when I am seeking for internships or job roles. Lastly, reddit is a widely known website for social networking. Reddit has almost everything you can think of from, gaming, memes, funny videos, educational videos, tutorials, horrifying stories and the list continues. Similarly to the other three social networking sites, Reddit is similar where you can read and write to posts. According to wikipedia, there are 430 million active Reddit users in 2019.
