Blog about Twitter

A Twitter discussion is very similar to a Blackboard discussion, yet very different. They are both effective ways for one to communicate with another. Twitter discussions would be better than Blackboard discussions because Twitter has more features. Some of these features would be hashtags, retweets, and the ability to @ someone when you want to get their attention. There are much more to explore and do in Twitter than Blackboard. In addition to this, Twitter has a much nicer user interface than Blackboard and a much larger audience. However, the one downside to this is that you are only allowed up to 280 characters per tweet which includes your hashtags. Some may argue that this is good because it keeps the tweets simple and informative at the same time. Blackboard on the other hand is an easy and standard way for the class and professor to communicate with one another. It is usually the way classes would communicate with each other because it is a built in feature that comes with once we enroll in Baruch. On the other hand, if I were to compare Twitter to an in-class discussion, I would say Twitter is a more efficient way to have a discussion. An in-class discussion isn't as efficient because only one person is allowed to talk at a time while the others have to listen. In twitter, many people can comment and post at the same time and others can read while others are posting. This saves time and no one would be talking over another. In addition to this, many people are uncomfortable speaking their thoughts in person so with the help of Twitter, everyone has a chance to speak their thoughts with ease. According to google, there are 330 million of active twitter users every month.
